Tariff Impacts: An Opportunity for Members to Share Feedback
If tariffs are affecting your business, BBOT members can share their experience directly with the federal government. This is an opportunity to raise specific concerns, identify gaps in available support and help ensure the experiences of Burnaby businesses are being heard.

Dear Burnaby Board of Trade Members,
Businesses across Burnaby are facing uncertainty as tariffs and changing global trade conditions increase costs and disrupt supply chains. I want you to know that our government is taking action to help businesses adapt, protect jobs, and reach new markets.
Through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), the federal government is helping tariff-affected businesses improve productivity, reduce costs, strengthen supply chains, and diversify into new markets.
We are already seeing this support here in Burnaby. Our government recently invested $1.99 million in Novarc Technologies to support its expansion into European markets and $650,000 in OSENSA Innovations to expand manufacturing of its advanced fibre-optic sensing technology.
We are also supporting workers and employers through programs such as Work-Sharing, which can provide Employment Insurance benefits to eligible employees working reduced hours and help businesses retain their workforce during temporary downturns.
I know how important our local businesses are to Burnaby. They create jobs, drive innovation, and strengthen our community. As I have said in Parliament, the strength of our economy begins in communities like Burnaby Central, where small businesses open their doors each morning and people build their futures.
