The City of Burnaby Proposes Business Licence Fee Updates

The City of Burnaby has proposed updates to business licence fees, set to take effect on January 1, 2026. The Burnaby Board of Trade supports these modest adjustments, which aim to balance the City’s need to fund essential municipal services with the realities faced by local businesses.

While times remain challenging for many small and medium-sized enterprises, the BBOT recognizes the importance of keeping fees predictable while ensuring the City can continue providing services that support a thriving local economy. This measured approach reflects a commitment to both business sustainability and community growth.

The proposed bylaw will be presented to Council for final adoption on October 28, 2025, at 5 pm in Council Chambers at Burnaby City Hall. Members are encouraged to review the details and understand the impact of the proposed changes.
