The Membership Committee provides mentorship to other members. They ensure members are getting the most value from their BBOT membership. Volunteers use their expertise and networking skills to raise awareness of the BBOT’s benefits and services. They contribute to the growth of the BBOT by encouraging new members to become active in the organization.
As a Burnaby Board of Trade Director since 2024 and the Executive Director of Burnaby Family Life to the Membership Committee, I bring of non-profit executive leadership and community-building expertise. My career centers on developing impactful social services, fostering equity, and creating collaborative community networks. I joined this committee to help local businesses maximize their membership value and build a more inclusive commercial ecosystem. I am deeply passionate about mentoring new members, driving social innovation, and connecting diverse organizational perspectives to spark shared growth. Representing the social sector on many local, regional and provincial committees, I provide a vital bridge between social wellness and economic prosperity to ensure our business community truly thrives.
I have been a member of the BBOT for over 10 yrs. I was a professor and realtor in the US before returning to Canada in 2015, when I joined the family business (S+F Group Benefits). After spending time networking in a variety of Chambers and Boards, I made the BBOT my business networking home. I value and am grateful for both the BBOT's political advocacy and the relationships I've developed with their team its members. I bring a history of committee work as a professor and businessperson and I’m eager to support the growth and enhance the member experience of a community I love.
I’ve been involved with the Burnaby Board of Trade for more than 15 years, actively supporting events, welcoming new members, and serving as a BBOT Ambassador. With over 25 years in business development and commercial facility services, I bring a practical, relationship‑driven perspective shaped by decades of working closely with restoration, property managers, strata councils, construction teams, and institutional clients across the Lower Mainland. I’m passionate about strengthening business connections, supporting small and medium‑sized enterprises, and helping create a collaborative, inclusive business community. My involvement with NAAAP Vancouver and other regional networks reflects my commitment to mentorship, leadership, and community building. I aim to contribute positively, connect people, and help the BBOT continue driving meaningful impact for local businesses.
I am a lawyer with my own practice in Burnaby, focusing on tax, estate planning, corporate, and immigration law. I also serve as Vice President of the Burnaby North Road BIA, a Director of Burnaby Family Life, and a Governor of Langara College.
I joined the committee because I am passionate about supporting local businesses and contributing to Burnaby’s economic growth. Through my legal practice and community involvement, I work closely with entrepreneurs, families, and organizations, giving me a practical perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing our business community.
