Doing it Right: The Lawyer's Role for Small Businesses
From Thursday, January 25 2007
To Friday, January 26 2007
Every day

The myth about lawyers is that they make things more costly, complicated and drawn out.  It is just a myth.  If you know how to use them and have a good one on your side lawyers actually streamline your business, save you time, money and help you portray a professional and efficient image.

Heather Jones, an entrepreneur, small business owner and lawyer, will let you in on the secrets of how to pick a lawyer, how to properly use a lawyer and what a lawyer can do for you.  You are a lawyer's customer and they are there to help with decisions such as whether or not to incorporate, how to properly use contracts and how to protect your business ideas.  You will learn how to do things right for minimal cost and make your business run effectively.

Heather Jones has been practicing corporate/commercial litigation for over 13 years in both British Columbia and Ontario.  She has vast experience with an array of companies from international multi-million dollar companies, to local small businesses and not-for-profit organizations.  She has litigated a broad range of issues from intellectual property, contract disputes and employment issues.  She loves the courtroom but believes in the practice of minimizing your risks.  She also is the president and founder of a successful small business in Vancouver and has, for the past four years, been at the very heart of small business issues.

Heather Jones believes in minimizing risk while maximizing profits and counsels her clients on how to avoid problems by doing things properly the first time so they are protected and have a profitable and enjoyable business.

This event will take place on Thursday, January 25h from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Executive Hotel Burnaby, located at 4201 Lougheed Highway.  Tickets are $20.00 for members and $25.00 for non-members.  Prices are exclusive of GST.
