Burnaby Workplace Ambassadors Project Update

Ambassador Program brochureThe Burnaby Workplace Ambassador Project aims to increase awareness of the barriers and challenges faced by both new immigrant job seekers and by employers working to recruit, hire and retain internationally trained workers (ITWs).

It will create opportunities for direct connections between ITWs and Burnaby employers, and will increase understanding and break down barriers to employment. At the end of the project, 30 “ITW Ambassadors” will have connected with a total of more than 210 “Employer Ambassadors”. Learn more

Testimonial:
Shortly after the launch of the program in October, Shibil Al-Shaibani, an internationally trained professional met with employer ambassador, Mr. Pierre Gallant, Principal and Vice President of Morrison Hershfield Ltd.
“Mr. Gallant shared his unique overview of the industry, his focused practical advice and personal guidance to me,” stated Al-Shaibani in a letter to the Ambassador Project Coordinator Russell  Garrett. “When asked for two or three people I could speak to in the field, he referred me to ten, high level professionals, in seven companies!

I can only hope to be, one day, in a position to return his kindness, or to show similar benevolence to an internationally trained colleague. With many thanks to the Ambassadors project, for such a great start.”
